Katy Idarraga
Pastry Chef
Pastry Chef Katy Idarraga was born and raised in Colombia but lived in Argentina before moving to the United States. According to Idarraga *I started my studies to be a chef in Colombia when I was 16 and traveled to Argentina to do a specialization in pastry at IAG (Instituto Argentina De Gastronomía). During this time I worked in several restaurants as a cook before becoming a pastry chef.” She credits her family as being her most influential people in her life and encouraging her to follow her dreams of being a pastry chef. Idarraga says *Since I was a child, I loved cooking and making different things for my family to enjoy. Over time I discovered that it was a passion and that I loved doing it!”
According to Idarraga it’s always all about the guest *because the guest is our reason for working, our job is to create an unforgettable memory for each of them.” She says her favorite memory is “that in every place I have worked I have had the opportunity to grow professionally! In this case I started as a pastry cook at Davio’s and over time I was promoted to Pastry Chef!” Idarraga says “I think I’m a bit of a perfectionist. I like everything to go well and when I’m not satisfied with what I did, I prefer to remake it.”
Idarraga lives in Saugus, MA and loves to travel. She says ice cream is her number one weakness!
